Day 30; Fitness Inspiration?

Who is your fitness inspiration?

There's a few mainstream fitness inspirations, I mentioned them on Day 10.

And, I get the daily inspiration from these 3 pretty girls. They need a healthy / active Mama, and I'm that girl. They know it's time to get busy when they see me in my workout gear. They don't always cooperate during my "runs" but I've learned to bargain with them. They keep me going, and during this deployment, it's just what I need. I love them to the moon and back.

Running for Dummies: Virtual Scavenger Hunt [5k]

Yes, I'm turning into a VIRTUAL RACE JUNKIE!!

Running for Dummies has an awesome Virtual Scavenger Hunt going on for August, Check it out!!

I love it; a virtual 5k plus more and fabulous prizes to go with it. I'll keep y'all updated on this post, as I check off from the list!! Here's what you do:

[8.11] Virtual 5k (Run, Walk, Crawl; just do it)
I had planned to do this as an EARLY Run (to beat the coming heat), was up about 6:30, got race ready, had toast, water (wanted coffee badly but decided to wait to drink after run), clipped the bib onto my Spi Belt, put on my Sony Music Player, I love it for running because I don't have a wire annoying me!! I was just about to walk out the door, at 7:00 AM, when I heard baby girl crying. She is usually in bed for another hour and I was certain I was quiet while getting ready. So, I went to grab her and took her downstairs for some Mama time until the rest of the rest of the house woke up. I began the Gold Medal Ass Challenge; 30 Squats and then stopped at Burpee #9, when I hit Baby Girl across the head. I have no idea why she decided to get up out of her comfy spot. Aghhh!!! We have this thing where we go all silly and stick the tongue out, anything to make her happy. Even, barking, YES, barking. She gets crazy excited when she hears/sees a "puppa" and she also does her "woof, woof". Like, I said whatever makes baby girl happy. It's love.

Once, they woke up, got breakfast situated, let husband take a few extra minutes and then darted out the door at 10:00 AM. I was a little exhausted at that point, the sun was getting HOT (68* is now HOT for the little Texas Gal). I took the pavement, a little bit of a different route, with hills to challenge myself, I wanted to run past the 5k, an hour (like I had been doing for the past 2 days) but the sun was BEATING on me!! My left knee ached a tad bit at the 2 mile mark, maybe too much hills?? I felt like my foot started to get crampy too, so I eased off it when I felt it. Needless to say, Saturday is my REST DAY, yep, I take those sometimes! I'm still debating whether I should jump on the Spin Bike. Hmm....

I finished STRONG at 3.41miles in 39:06min.

[8.31] Plank Off; Last Day, Last Chance Workout. We watched Battleship and right after it was done, I got serious about the last bit of this challenge. Leanna snapped a photo while I got in position. I was hurting a little and with these little monsters, it was a challenge!! Glad, I'm starting the plank-a-day challenge. I need it!!

[8.28] Outside your comfort zone, fitness related
Today I started back the BOOTCAMP!! I had started this last April, a way for fellow military wive to get together for fitness/playdate for the kids. It was totally out of my comfort zone yet it was right with what I want to do. Instruct/Guide/Motivate/Support/ others in their fitness journey. So, I did it and it was a HIT. Our spouses returned home and I went on hiatus, so they can enjoy the one-on-one time with them. I was a little nervous to start back up b/c I felt (feel) a little out of shape especially with the injuries I've had (foot/knee), I'm not a 100% but I'm working towards it. Luckily, today there was several familiar faces, friends of mine actually, no newbies (bummer), so it was a awesome atmosphere even with a little nervousness. We didn't snap any photo's during the bootcamp. But I snapped this one while waiting for them.

[8.28] Share a picture of something you love
My favorite four, I love them. They are the reason I work so hard, setting examples, making "healthier" meals, working out to stay active, so I can keep up with them. It makes me happy, so in turn, it will make them happy. Yes, I get crabby when I dont get a workout in somedays, I need a stress reviler. Regardless of that, I still love them.

[8.28] Attend the Virtual Party
Healthy Choice: Spinach & Strawberry Salad.
Yummmayyy, Super Easy to Make
  • Fresh Spinach
  • Sliced Strawberries
  • Almonds (or a Nut mix: sesame seeds, raisins, cashews)
  • Balsamic Vinaigrette (I used the spray bottle with a few squirts)
  • Just mix all the ingredients together and there you have it!

Dangerously Delicious Choice:
I'll bring my Margaritaville Machine, everyone loves Margarita's, right?
And, what goes perfect with Margarita's, CHIPS & HOMEMADE SALSA!!
  • Can of Rotel
  • Can of Diced Tomatoes
  • Handful of Fresh Cilantro
  • Few sprinkles of Garlic Powder
  • Put all ingredients into blender to blend; EASY!!

Run, Mama, Run

Phew!!
I'm getting in the last few miles for the Half-Marathon Virtual Run, The Bug Run. And, it was a wee bit challenging tonight. After a busy morning of MAJOR Cleaning, like living room vacuuming, inside couches, behind, under, LAUNDRY. I met up with a friend for an afternoon playdate, with a little rainfall and then dashed home to get dinner started. We headed out to the Base Track at 6, girls were a little anxious to get more outdoor play. And, to my surprise, everyone and their mama was out there too. The girls did okay for a while. Ailea ran the first lap with me, I paused the Garmin everytime she took a breather, but she kept at it; Proud Mama. Leanna was left out she wore sandals but did walk the lap with Serena. Then Mama got busy, it's like 4 laps for one mile and running the track is just as fun as running the treadmill. (sarcastically speaking) I was a little beat going in circles but I was happy to be OUTDOORS!! After the first mile, I found Leanna on my phone and she snapped the photo below, Ailea ran towards me, ready to smile. It was sweet. Can you see the exhaustion, I had to sprint toward Serena, she ran onto the track. Agh! There was so much going on at the track and flag football on the field nearby, that I was actually surprised they kept entertained with their toys and their surrounding while I finished the last mile. I went a little bit longer until I saw Serena getting annoyed with her sisters, keeping her off the track. So, it was time to head back home. The walk to/from the track was roughly a 1 mile, each way. I say I wore them out.

2.36 Sweaty [Crazy] Miles; Got. It. Done.

"Don't wait to for inspiration to find you; BECOME IT!!"

Hello, Clean Eating!!

Clean Eating is among many September Routines/Challenges!!

I'm feeling READY after a few months of research, finding recipes and loading up my "Clean Eating" binder.

After this past month, August, I need this little [big] change, kind of like a body cleanse. And, I'm taking the girls along on the ride with [almost] NO processed foods, like the typical chicken nuggets or corn dogs. I'm sure they will miss them a little and will not like trying all the new things I've got line up on the Meal Plans. It's a new experience we will all get to enjoy, at least I know I will. It'll also be beneficial for the Prep Planning Weekends! School starts this week and I'll have a first grader, who loves taking her own lunch to school, even packing her own lunch. I'm EXCITED!

Happy Clean Eating!!

Day 29; Working out ANYWHERE!

Do you workout at home or at the gym?

From my living room routines to my bedroom for a Spin to the GYM for TM Runs to the great outdoors.

 I can do it anywhere!

Like today during bootcamp, we dropped down to the ground for push-ups, got up to the picnic tables to tricep dips, and walked around the lake.

Tomorrow, I'll be grabbing my weight bar and weights from under my coach to get my lifting on with Les Mills Pump.

I can squeeze in a few miles outdoors. Or, I can walk around the corner to the gym, but it get's a little crazy with 3 super active girls (baby girl being a climber).

If, I don't get a run in, I can go upstairs to my bedroom for some Sweaty Spinning!

a n y w h e r e; make it happen, get it done!

Fit-Loving Ladies BOOTCAMP!

Hello, Tuesday!!
DEPLOYMENT began yesterday.
BOOTCAMP started today.
I was anxious over the last few weeks, kept tweaking the routine, even last night I was dropping down w/the routine reps. I wanted something fresh, something that would be challenging but wouldn't hurt them. I shared a bowl of grits w/baby girl before we loaded up, in double jogger and walked to the lake. It's funny today was a "REST" Day on the Les Mills Pump Calendar; I needed a workout to help get these sore muscles stretched instead.
This was P E R F E C T.

A few fabulous Navy Mama's got together and got our fitness on!!
The weather was PERFECT, Kids were HAPPY, and I felt a LITTLE rusty. I got down to business once we started and it came natural, even though my knee ached a little as did my hips (yesterday squats), I still got it done.

Today's Routine included:
  • Warm Up
  • Legs; Kneeling roundhouse kicks, hip extension & cross, jump squats..
  • Arms; tricep dips n' kicks, triangle/scorpion pups,..
  • Core; side plank w/alternating leg raise, planks, side winders, mtn clibmers, moutain climbers, russian twists..
  • Cool Down; Walk around the lake
[Using the great outdoors as our gym]

Day 28; Proud Fitness Junkie

It's day 28 of the AUGUST HEALTHY LIVING/FITNESS BLOGGER WRITING CHALLENGE and today's topic is, Are you a cardio junkie or a strength junkie...

Hi, my name is Rosanna and I'm a FITNESS JUNKIE!!
I love it all; any which way that brings on the SWEAT & BURN.
The satisfaction that I just killed that workout and I'm feeling fabulous!!
Sure, some days it kicks my ass whether it be a RUN, SPIN, Kettle Bell/Hand weights/Weight Bar/Body Weight/HIIT Routine,....anything, everything. I want it all!

It's the glory of knowing I got my ass up/off and got it done; total fitness junkie mentality!
The Running that makes my legs burn with each stride or my booty jiggle.
The Spinning that makes my legs feel strong as hell, during spin-ups/climbs.
The arms that lift heavy during rep effect, and stay strong during KB swings.
The triceps that burn during dips.
The core that engages strong, even beyond the baby fat, to burn with reps.
The body that hold baby girls, two at time, some days, it's what gets it done!

Les Mills Pump!

WEEK ONE/DAY ONE!!
What better way to kill a deployment than to start this Amazing 13 week program?!?!?

I'm back to this fabulous BeachBody Program, LES MILL PUMP!!

I started the program earlier this year, in January, went 10 straight weeks. It gave FABULOUS results, gave my arms some definition, biceps came alive, legs were STRONG! This is ONE of the 3 programs I am planning to keep me "BUSY/FIT" during this LONG deployment that husband is on.
This round, I'll complete the 13 weeks, I'm looking forward to it; I have another set of weights to add in, 7.5lbs. So, I'll be lifting HEAVY, I'm sure I'll add more halfway through!! LIFTING is apart of my TONING PHASE and I LOVE it!!

If your instrested, you can visit my BeachBody site and order it. You will LOVE the REP EFFECT!!! It's a KILLER workout; squats, lunges, deadlifts, ..... keeps you going!!
KIA KAHA; BE STRONG!!

"Don't wait to for inspiration to find you; BECOME IT!!"

Day 27; When I retire?

How will you stay busy when you retire?

Fitness doesn't have an age limit.

I'll remain as active as my body allows. I have 3 girls, and I'll be very much involved in keeping them active no matter where we go, coaching whatever sport I can support in.

I'll be a RUNNER as long as my body allows. It's where I find my peace, especially during these days as a military spouse, with 3 girls in town while husband is not home.

I'll be that woman to still TEACHING fitness classes. Taking clients as a personal trainer,   and helping others on their fitness journey.

I'll be the woman, riding the BIKE/CYCLING, enjoying the weather in the mornings, maybe riding alongside husband.

I'll be the woman, who picks up GOLF, an activity my husband enjoys and I'm looking forward to learning.

I'll be that woman, still moving, keeping busy, enjoying life, my family, being active!!

[This made me giggle]

Runner Cuddles

My alarm(s) was set for one 'last' run......Instead as I turned off one of the last set alarms, I felt husband right next to me, his arm across my body, his head near my ribcage. At that moment, there was NO WAY I was leaving my man, no way!! I savored every single second, every breathe,..Until we heard baby girl crying out for "daddy". A quick nursing session before our day begins. We are decorating the downstairs for our big girl's 6th BIRTHDAY!!!! Then, heading to husbands ship for a tour, not thrilled about that but at least the girls will have a better understanding of where daddy will be, his work area, where he sleeps. Should be instresting! We will also have lunch with my brother, he is also a sailor on the same ship, small world! Tonight, I'll be making one of our family favorite meals; chicken & shrimp fettuccine Alfredo (homemade sauce is insanely delicious!!)

Today, the runner in me isn't upset for a 'missed' run (as I typically become), I wouldn't trade these cuddles for anything!

Tomorrow is the start of week 1/13 for Les Mills Pump!! And, I'll be out getting a RUN in with my 3 pretty little monsters in tow!! Back at it; Back to my routine!! September brings new routines; plank a day, bootcamp, 100s, no sugar challenge,....stay tuned!!
I'm EXCITED!!!

Sneaky [Rough] Miles!!

Husband was still out running errands with baby girls when Leanna [finally] woke up. I asked if she want to the gym, so Mama can get her RUN on!! Yeahhh, I was excited, she was too...we chatted to/from out short walk. I reminded her that her 6th BIRTHDAY is tomorrow and she reminded me that her Daddy leaves on Monday. Bittersweet.
I'll admit, it's always awkward not having all 3 girls in tow, not holding someone's hand, or carrying one on the hip.

Well, there was nothing quick or fun about running on the treadmill. My knee was not feeling it, awful pain, no matter what I did, inclines, slow speed, fast speed, the 1 MILE 'run' was my roughest ever, on the treadmill. That won't be happening for a while... It's pretty bothersome because since the bum knee injury, I've still managed to get some good running miles, even with a little pain at the beginning, I feel great afterwards. Wahhh!! When we got home, we decided to get a little more running in, taking bonita for a walk/run to the lake. We squeezed in a mile before meeting husband back at the house.

Well, at least I was able to squeeze in 2 MILES toward THE BUG RUN MILES. Only, 4.57 Miles to go.
 Bummed about the SLOW/Rough Mile

 Happy with my girl
Bonita did good on the walk/run

"Don't wait to for inspiration to find you; BECOME IT!!"

Confession Time...

My plans weren't a go this morning, it was another Baby Girl woke up before my alarm to nurse, then stayed up to play. Husband was also up playing with her, kind of like some one-on-one time with her for almost 2 hours. He eventually fell asleep thereafter, I nursed again, she has been cluster nursing lately, yes, even at almost 19 months. She went back to sleep right about 7. A missed Run, It was worth spending time with her, so early.

It's 8:30 now and I have a headache. Why? AS much as I love the idea of sleeping in, just another hour, it KILLS me, I wake up with a headache, my body is a little achy, I'm disoriented. So, sleeping in "sometimes" is not my friend. Going to "TRY" to squeeze in the missed run sometime today before my brother comes over and we BBQ. And, I'll try to aim for another RUN in the Early AM too. I'm only 6 Miles from completing The Bug Run Half-Marathon, I have until the end of the month though.

Geez, Rosanna..why so eager to get these runs in?? Well, they are my last one(s), My last SOLO runs, with out the worry of 3 girls being babysat or in the playroom (climbing).....husband leaves on Monday for an 8 months deployment. Now, back to working on my September Meal Plans, Fitness Challenges (for the Fit-Loving Ladies Group), Bootcamp & Happy {Craft} Hour Challenge/Ideas! Happy Saturday Y'all!!

Hello Again, Rest Day!

I had a LONG RUN on schedule but that's not going to happen and I'm okay with that. This morning, baby girl and I shared a bowl of steel cut oats w/the delicious blackberries we picked yesterday. SO GOOD!!

Husband was home mid-morning after a duty day. My brother came over and spent some time hanging out. I did a little cleaning, went to register my girl at her new school!! And, we added another piece to a project I had started to work on 2 months ago, dining room hutch!!! I'll be choosing another color scheme; My FIRST project on my "deployment projects" list!! I'm a CREATIVE CRAFTY mama, DIY, unique furniture make-over, I could go on, really.....another outlet besides running/fitness!! I'm also EXCITED to start and host Happy {CRAFTY} Hour in September!! Where a few Military Mama's get together and work on creative projects or a weekly themed project challenge!! Something we need while our loved one's are on deployment!!
I am feeling the squats and burpees!! Tomorrow is an EARLY DAY; I'll be refreshed and ready to RUN and complete The Bug Run Half-Marathon!!

Happy Running y'all!!
