Run Faster, Mama!

Running in the Rain. I just had to get out there and I absolutely loved every single BURNING second on that pavement/track!! I had a few cancellations for bootcamp, typical on a rainy day, before I even headed out, so I decided just to ENJOY the run and swing by the track in case anyone else showed up. The thing about it is, I LOVE RAIN!! I enjoy the outdoors and this was my first attempt at my current challenge with my ever so changing schedule. Baby Girls were excited to get out in the rain too, and enjoyed the view along the Base Roadways. Whewww....going uphill with a double jogger is TOUGH, really TOUGH!! I was winded after 10 minutes but I kept going. Made it, kept going, went around towards the gym and ran a few laps around the track to complete 2.02 Miles in 28:55. Not too bad with rainfall. We hung out, re-fueled & stretched out before walking back home. I already have a few routes in mind for my next run and another mother runner who wants to join in. Excited to be giving my outdoor runs back in action. WhOoHoOOooo!!!

Moms Run This Town!!

Thursday Talk about it!!

Today, I hosted my SECOND Moms Run This Town Morning Meetup, we had about 7 Mother Runners RSVP'd and between last night and this morning, there was just me & another Mama!! No biggie. She is a friend, we've ran together, without kids before. So, we caught up.

We had a FABULOUS Time, there was FABULOUS weather, we chatting and keeping our little ones entertained during our Run with the Double Joggers!! There was a few tantrums on my end, my girls were up WAY TOO EARLY, baby girl was up at 5:20 and then she woke up big sisters around 6:15. Talk about being a Mama on the go!! Whewww!!
[Peek A Boo, I see a tired one year old]
[From Pavement to Trails we had it covered]
[Not too bad for running with double joggers]
After our 4.37 Mile Run (with walking intervals), we headed to the waterfront park to let the kiddos play and then walked to a local bakery for lunch. First Time visiting this little place and I loved it!! It's naptime, and early dismissal at 1:55pm for my girl. Going to squeeze in my Les Mills Pump Hardcore Abs & Flow, then shower. Work on some Fabulous Fall Crafts & then Tonight is OPEN HOUSE and our girl is READY to have us over.

It was definitely an Adventurous Saturday for us!!

Got my girl registered for Fall Youth Soccer, her 2nd year w/the YMCA!!
Went out for a movie at the base cinema; Watched Madagascar 3 for the 2nd time.

During Naptime, I got busy completing our School Command Center, since I [finally] received our Fabulous Customized Calendar. Just another AWESOME DIY Project in our household.

Running for Dummies: Virtual Scavenger Hunt [5k]

Yes, I'm turning into a VIRTUAL RACE JUNKIE!!

Running for Dummies has an awesome Virtual Scavenger Hunt going on for August, Check it out!!

I love it; a virtual 5k plus more and fabulous prizes to go with it. I'll keep y'all updated on this post, as I check off from the list!! Here's what you do:

[8.11] Virtual 5k (Run, Walk, Crawl; just do it)
I had planned to do this as an EARLY Run (to beat the coming heat), was up about 6:30, got race ready, had toast, water (wanted coffee badly but decided to wait to drink after run), clipped the bib onto my Spi Belt, put on my Sony Music Player, I love it for running because I don't have a wire annoying me!! I was just about to walk out the door, at 7:00 AM, when I heard baby girl crying. She is usually in bed for another hour and I was certain I was quiet while getting ready. So, I went to grab her and took her downstairs for some Mama time until the rest of the rest of the house woke up. I began the Gold Medal Ass Challenge; 30 Squats and then stopped at Burpee #9, when I hit Baby Girl across the head. I have no idea why she decided to get up out of her comfy spot. Aghhh!!! We have this thing where we go all silly and stick the tongue out, anything to make her happy. Even, barking, YES, barking. She gets crazy excited when she hears/sees a "puppa" and she also does her "woof, woof". Like, I said whatever makes baby girl happy. It's love.

Once, they woke up, got breakfast situated, let husband take a few extra minutes and then darted out the door at 10:00 AM. I was a little exhausted at that point, the sun was getting HOT (68* is now HOT for the little Texas Gal). I took the pavement, a little bit of a different route, with hills to challenge myself, I wanted to run past the 5k, an hour (like I had been doing for the past 2 days) but the sun was BEATING on me!! My left knee ached a tad bit at the 2 mile mark, maybe too much hills?? I felt like my foot started to get crampy too, so I eased off it when I felt it. Needless to say, Saturday is my REST DAY, yep, I take those sometimes! I'm still debating whether I should jump on the Spin Bike. Hmm....

I finished STRONG at 3.41miles in 39:06min.

[8.31] Plank Off; Last Day, Last Chance Workout. We watched Battleship and right after it was done, I got serious about the last bit of this challenge. Leanna snapped a photo while I got in position. I was hurting a little and with these little monsters, it was a challenge!! Glad, I'm starting the plank-a-day challenge. I need it!!

[8.28] Outside your comfort zone, fitness related
Today I started back the BOOTCAMP!! I had started this last April, a way for fellow military wive to get together for fitness/playdate for the kids. It was totally out of my comfort zone yet it was right with what I want to do. Instruct/Guide/Motivate/Support/ others in their fitness journey. So, I did it and it was a HIT. Our spouses returned home and I went on hiatus, so they can enjoy the one-on-one time with them. I was a little nervous to start back up b/c I felt (feel) a little out of shape especially with the injuries I've had (foot/knee), I'm not a 100% but I'm working towards it. Luckily, today there was several familiar faces, friends of mine actually, no newbies (bummer), so it was a awesome atmosphere even with a little nervousness. We didn't snap any photo's during the bootcamp. But I snapped this one while waiting for them.

[8.28] Share a picture of something you love
My favorite four, I love them. They are the reason I work so hard, setting examples, making "healthier" meals, working out to stay active, so I can keep up with them. It makes me happy, so in turn, it will make them happy. Yes, I get crabby when I dont get a workout in somedays, I need a stress reviler. Regardless of that, I still love them.

[8.28] Attend the Virtual Party
Healthy Choice: Spinach & Strawberry Salad.
Yummmayyy, Super Easy to Make
  • Fresh Spinach
  • Sliced Strawberries
  • Almonds (or a Nut mix: sesame seeds, raisins, cashews)
  • Balsamic Vinaigrette (I used the spray bottle with a few squirts)
  • Just mix all the ingredients together and there you have it!

Dangerously Delicious Choice:
I'll bring my Margaritaville Machine, everyone loves Margarita's, right?
And, what goes perfect with Margarita's, CHIPS & HOMEMADE SALSA!!
  • Can of Rotel
  • Can of Diced Tomatoes
  • Handful of Fresh Cilantro
  • Few sprinkles of Garlic Powder
  • Put all ingredients into blender to blend; EASY!!

Gone Runnin' Week 2

It was another FABULOUS WEEK of RUNNING!!

Although, I was mending a pain too, during last Sunday's RUN, my knee got a beating going down a [steep] hill. So, I've taken a few rest days this week, today being another. It's not fun but I listen to my body, I don't stress it. For Today's "REST DAY"; Foam Rolling and Yoga, I need it, I slept wrong and got a sore body. Here's how this week of RUNNING went;

Tuesday's Run; was a "test" run, to feel out the knee. It was aching at the beginning, so I paced myself, even taking a few walking intervals. Got 2 [EARLY] Miles in and I was Happy despite the [bum] knee. Came back home, stretched, foam rolled.

Wednesday's Run; I was anxious to get back out there, so I did!! It was later than usual RUN and it was pretty hot. 80s*, yeah, that's hot here in Washington. My body has adjusted to the weather here, it was more Extreme at our last duty station and even Texas. I explored a New Route, the road that husband and other sailors run during their PRT. It was perfect, flat, no cars to distract me, then I saw a back entrance to the trails, I often run. I was beyond excited. Sure, the knee was a little funny, so again, I'd ease off it with a walking interval or slowed my pace down. Got 3 Miles in!!

Thursday's RUN; FIRST Meetup with the Fabulous Mother Runners of our Local Moms Run This Town Chapter. I finally met the leader, we've chatted quite often since I joined, so it was nice to finally meet in person. Also, 2 other Mother Runners, one is is training for a Full Marathon, October, we got lots of advice from her. She also shared running routes onn/off base. I was thrilled to meet others with that share the same passion in running. And, we're excited to keep the group active. We met in a little town, which I love, and I only snapped this photo, the sun was setting during out run along the waterfront. I can;t get enough of outdoor runs.

Saturday's RUN; This RUN didn't happen as I had originally planned. I was giving myself a MAJOR challenge and running a Virutal Half-Marathon EARLY but Baby Girl had different plans, she woke up puking, right before my alarm even went off. Our poor girl, she puked a few times and I wasn't going to leave her side, husband was there too. After the unpleasant 4:30ish wake-up, we all crashed about 6:30. And, I didn't get back up until 8. We got some morning cleaning done, he left to take a friend to the ferry and baby girl to get a check-up at hospital. I stayed behind waiting for the cable guy, our internet had been acting up. After all that got done, baby girl was FINE, we lounged. Until, I said, "I still want to sneak in a quick RUN", after he mentioned getting ready to go to Best Buy to pick up a movie(s). He said, "GO, Run, Rosanna!" I jumped up in excitement, I can RUN to Best Buy, I can meet y'all! He said he'd give me a headstart. Hahhaha. That's love y'all. I got the girls dressed and ready. I got myself dressed quickly. I speed out the door. Took the route out the base gate, and ran, ran, ran.....I made it there first, I wasn't too speedy, I did take a few walking intervals, hit some trails and was a HOT MESS. Sweat was still dripping down when I walked inside Best Buy to splash water on my face and I we walked around. We came home and I immediately started on dinner, yep, that's when you know you're a RUNNER. Keep is moving, even while smelly. Hah!! So, these miles are also towards a Virtual Half-Marathon I'm participating in, The Bug Run. Got 3 Miles in.
