Day 7; Breaking through a plateau

Hey y'all!!
Here we are, Week ONE; Day 7 of the Daily blogger challenge that Fitness Cheerleader has going on.

How do you break through a plateau?

Good Question! I SWITCH up my routine as often as possible, I like to plan out my fitness calendar at least a month ahead. Sometimes, just weeks ahead, sometimes I do a spur of the moment workout to add it. I LOVE the variety I can do with my routine, especially since 95% is at HOME!! It proves to be most effective!

I have plenty of equipment to play with; Spin bike, BOSU, weights, Kettle bells, resistant bands, jumping rope, single and double jogger. I'm looking forward to adding MORE during the upcoming deployment. SO, the fitness journey is never boring.

And, in my weight loss journey, the plauteau comes from crazy eating, the kind where I just don't pay attention to my meals. It's SUPER challenging when husband is around, because he LOVES to eat home-cooked meals, the DELICIOUS fatty stuff. When he is out to sea, it makes things EASY, i don't cook fatty meals, I don't buy this or that, I eat HEALTHIER.

Day 6; Highs & Lows

Your highs and lows this past year?

Hmmm...I'm a little bummer about my LOW, gaining roughly 13lbs back. Never again, will I resort to birth control. Obviously, it's a precaution since we didn't want a surprise baby. I'd rather choose the other forms. It took A LOT from me, gaining 13 lbs is rough, I FELT it on my body vs. seeing it on the scale.

That's one thing I've learned on my fitness journey, the scale doesn't own me. It's how I FEEL, and I feel it in my stomach area, hips and thighs. You know the fun parts. My husband could care less, he LOVES every inch of me, he loves the jiggly parts, he loves that I workout, even though, he always wants me to stay home when he sees me in workout gear (HAH).

Family Tree we made the night before he left for deployment, Nov 2011.

HIGH, busting my booty, RUNNING/Working out with 3 little monsters in tow, and holding things down while husband is on deployment/out to sea, SUPER MAMA! (Don't get me wrong, it gets a little [A LOT] CRAZY)

We moved to Washington (I LOVE IT HERE!) Mid-October he left a month later to meet this ship on deployment, returned in March, left for 2 weeks in April, left again for 5 Weeks at the end of June and will be leaving SOON for a 7/8 Month Deployment. Talk about BUSY, it sucks but that's how it goes!!

Day 5; Foods

Fitness Cheerleader's Fitness Blogger Challenge is on day 5, Foods, Foods, Foods!!

What 5 foods can YOU not live without?
I can LIVE without certain foods, I've challenged myself quite a few times. There a few that I REALLY enjoy eating.

Those are what I can live without but life is much sweeter when I have them around!! BONUS, they are all healthy. WINNING!!

"Sweat Your Thorns Off" Virtual 5k

"Sweat Your Thorns Off" Virtual 5k
3.11 mil
38.33 min

I had planned to run the Virtual 5k "Sweat Your Thorns Off" Virtual 5k on Saturday but that didn't happen. So, I got my butt ready for a lunch run today!
The Boring Runner  has some awesome prizes up for grab but the best part of this Virtual 5k was getting back outdoors and RUNNING!!!

It had been a while since I ran SOLO, outdoors!! It was a HOT weekend in Washington, it was 81* when I stepped outside, HOT!! I even took a different route, trail, took some pavement. I actually liked it, it wasn't along the "busy" base roadways, it was a back road, and had some shade (THANK YOU JESUS). AND, my foot was feeling good, it started to get a little irritated, s I'd ease off when it did. My pace was slower than usual but I got. it. done.

I sure was SWEATING my THORNS off!!! I replayed Train-Drive By, STUCK on that song!!

Day 4; Changed in the last 2 years?

Day 4: How have you changed in the past 2 years?

2 years ago, 2010, I was about 2 1/2 months pregnant with Baby Girls #3. It was a HUGE surprise! I had lost 38lbs from 2nd Baby (reaching 154 in April 2010) and wanted to lose the last 10lbs.I tried to maintain my "fitness routine" I was pretty determined but ridiculously exhausted. I was at it until month 5, then I had to slow down to almost nothing, just the daily walking, running after 2 active kiddos.

[July 12 2010]

I struggled at first; I was just getting used to the slimmer body, loving it!! After daughter #1, I was overweight, we moved to our Duty Station in the California Desert (April 2008) and I was ready to try for Baby #2.  I  had been in the 170-180s and reached over 200 lbs at the end of pregnancy #1 & 2. So, I signed up for Stroller Strides, met a few other Mama's and started the weight loss journey, lost 15lbs and then was pregnant thereafter. After we welcomed our daughter, I was DETERMINED to lose the baby weight, taking my body back and starting a fitness routine.

[A year ago after a RUN; June 26, 2011]

A year ago, I was home for the summer in the Humid Heat of Texas.  I started RUNNING, almost daily, I'd run late at night, after my girls were asleep. I didn't have access to gym, only when I was at my mom's (and it wasn't all the much), so I started my own home routines, to get me moving. I was successful, breastfed, changed my eating habits (slightly) and like I mentioned earlier, lost 38lbs by the time she was 8 months. I did the SAME thing after baby #3 and lost all my baby weight, 32 lbs, surpassing pre-baby weight, to my LOWEST at 147lbs (mid-February 2012)!!! BIG DEAL in my fitness journey!!

[August 6 2011]

Unfortunately, I started birth control shortly after husband returned from deployment (April 2012) and gained about 10lbs, also let go of healthy eating habits and had minimum workouts. BOoo!!

I'm back at it, shedding those LBS off, afterall I have approximately 8 months to have fun with it. I'm taking other Mama's along the journey, leading them in "bootcamp" classes and joined a local running group......stay tuned for the update!!

Fitness Friday!!

Another EARLY Start; Another Duty Day for husband!!

The Sunshine was out in WA, SO, we took it to the track early this morning, 8:30!!
Girls loved running around and exploring, and luckily it wasn't busy with other [military] folks. There was a few laps where Leanna (took a lap to herself) or Ailea ran alongside me, I also took turns "racing" with Leanna. Overall, I enjoyed it. So HAPPY, they were all in good moods, sometimes I'm not so lucky. Hah. I got myself 2 miles, paused a few times to attend to girls, and paced the "beginning" of an aching foot. It's safe to say, that I do need an insole for my right foot. I've worn 2 different running shoes (one pair doesn't have more than 30miles on it), one more supportive than the other and it's the same area that gets irritated. The doctor also recommended this when I went in to get it checked out. Bummer but doable!

Fitness Blogger Challenge; Day 3

It's Day 3 of Fitness Cheerleader's Fitness Blogger Challenge and a huge question is on board.....

"Where would you like to be in 10 years?"

That's funny because last night I realized we are already zooming into August, it was only the 2nd! Hah.
And, then I realized the "big deal" for August. A husband who will be coming up on 11 YEARS of serving in the United States Navy, our very own Sailor. And, our oldest, Leanna, will be turning 6 YEARS OLD!! We just celebrated, Ailea's 3rd Birthday last month, unfortunately, he was out to sea. He will actually be here on Leanna's birthday, and she is SO excited for that!!

  • In 10 years, we will be a "normal" family, fresh out of the NAVY LIFE, settling back to our roots, near family, in TEXAS!! I'll be 38 YEARS old, and husband will be 40. It's going to be a HUGE transition but we will tackle it together!! WHOAAA!!
  • We plan to buy a house on a huge lot, in the country, we want to remodel/fix it up...I can't wait to finally have a place to call MY OWN!!!
  • We will have a 16 year old, 13, year old and 11 year old AND, (they're will be a #4, maybe #5, not sure of the ages in 10years; hahha!) That's THREE GIRLS, 2 teenagers and a pre-teen; pretty outrageous! I'm glad husband will be out of the NAVY and be there everyday to watch his girls blossom into young women, crucial!!
  • We plan to be very involved in their sport activities, he plans to coach softball, and I hope to be active in where ever else with their schools.
  • As for myself, I hope to be a big impact in the fitness community, locally teaching classes, nutrition, rehab, anywhere I can squeeze myself into! (It's starting next year, where I will start the process for schooling/certifications when husband returns from deployment).
  • I'm excited to know we started leading healthy lives, including my girls on runs and gym time. They know the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle at an early age. I look forward to running races together, and other fitness events. And, cheering them on in every little thing they do.
There's a lot more to look forward to in 10 years but those are the big ones!! Here's to 2022!!
