Gone Running {UPDATE}

Husband started leave earlier this week, which meant, this Mama was going RUNNING, outdoors!! YAY!!! I was READY for this, I was ANXIOUS!!

The week actually started on Sunday with Sweat Your Thorns Off Virtual 5k. Then I took a REST Day, didn't want to stress the foot out, I SPUN it out Tuesday and spent 3 days straight RUNNING, felt GOOD to get back out there and with NO FOOT PAIN!!! Even, completed another Virtual 5k on Friday Morning, Running for Dummies: Virtual Scavenger Hunt & 5k.

Dailymile Log!!

I've logged in 34 Miles for the Week; HAPPY to say 15.8 are RUNNING [outdoor] MILES!!

Yesterday, I took a rest Day! Today, has been a HOT day, 84*. It's currently dropping, slowly, so I will wait another hour before this Mama is "GONE RUNNING"!!! And, I'm not even thinking how FAR or LONG I will go, I'll let my feet & body decide, NEW ROUTE TOO!! That's the plus of having SO much pavement & trail outside my doorstep on a pretty decent sized military base!!!

{UPDATE}
Started this Late Night Run at 8:00 PM. the sun is still out at that time here in Washington.

I walked into the house telling my husband, "I f*cked up my knee, I f*cked up my knee, I f*cked up my knee"!!! (Excuse my language, I was a little [a lot] upset) During the last 1/2 Mile I felt it acting funny, like an ache, and if I didn't pace myself or watch my landing, I felt it was going to snap. I think it was that LONG downhill I took, it was a different route and I was landing pretty hard, going down. My bad! Anyways, I GOT.IT.DONE; Finished STRONG!! I watched the sunset from a few different views, I saw my shadow in front of me as it got dark, I felt the cool air (even though I was SWEATING), I ignored the car fumes that made me nauseous, when I went back on the main roads and heavily inhaled the fresh air it the empty areas.

Overall, I LOVED this "LONG" RUN; MUCH NEEDED OUTLET; 5.48 Miles in 1:08:05 min.
Finished the week with 5 [Outdoor] Runs; Total of 21.13 Miles; Whoop! Whoop!!
Now, to RELAX and Ice that bitch of a KNEE!!

Day 12; Favorite Junk Food.

What's your favorite junk food?

Simple. DIET COKE!!

That's one thing, I can ALWAYS be in the mood for. Easy to grab at the mini mart, as the drink for a fast food meal or anywhere/everywhere really.

I kicked "SODAS" for August and I've done GOOD!! I'm no so heavy into drinking it anyways, so it's an "easy" challenge. It's just something I can get when I'm out and about, so, that was the challenging part.

Day 10: Famous Workout Partner!

Which Famous Person Would You Like to Workout With?

Ohhh, there are SO many I'd love the opportunity to workout with. Here's my top 3.

First off, Bob Harper. He is just AWESOME. Not only does he teach SPIN, he is now certified in CROSSIT, just more awesomeness to add to that sexy man!!!!

I'd absolutely die to RUN with Alison Sweeney, she is just so down to earth. I love that she keeps pushing herself and she looks AMAZING as a FIT MAMA!!

This $h*t is Bananas, yo!!! I only got ONE WEEK done with Insanity before I had to stop but totally looking forward to getting INSANE with Shaun T!!

Day 10; What 5 weird things do you like?

What 5 weird things do you like?

Hmmm...5 weird things I like...

  1. I do like SWEATING, it's a sense of accomplishment from a WORKOUT!! It is pretty gross and I typically shower after most of my workouts  because I tend to breakout but I still love it!!
  2. I love Veggies, that's not really all that weird. I SERIOUSLY love finding new ways to cook them, new recipes to make with them, or just eat them plain. My favorites; Kale, Spinach, Mushrooms, Sweet Potatoes, Zucchini, .......Honestly, I love them all and try new one as often as possible.
  3. I DREAM about crafting and working out, WEIRD, right??!? I love them both, when I'm not creating a workout plan, I'm jotting on my craft list for supplies or ideas. This is our 4th place that we have lived in and it's the first time it's felt like HOME. I've added A LOT of unique DIY project to our walls and all over, really. And, it feels sooo good to walk it and see more than bare walls. Every. single. time, someone comes over they LOVE this or that.
  4. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to add lime or lemon juice to lots of fruits with a sprinkle of chili powder or salt. Husband says it's weird but I love the sour taste it gives.
  5. REALITY TV is weird!! It's trash, most of the time, and I can't believe I watch it but I do and it's mostly at night when I SPIN or am in bed trying to sleep. It sucks me every time. hahha
I classify those 5 things as "weird", although they seem quite normal to me. Go figure.

Day 9; body image and the media

What are your thoughts on body image and the media?

It's been a BIG deal these days, huh? OR for as long as I remember!!

I remember when I "matured" physically, when HIPS appeared, when I became uncomfortable in my own skin because I didn't look like those girls in the magazines. That's how we spent our time in middle/high school, reading magazines, for the boys, the girls, the fashion, the music...before school, lunch, in class. It's silly thinking about it now. The media had me all wrong. I broke through that around junior year, I stopped being uncomfortable, I stopped comparing myself to them.

When it comes to television, It's just ridiculous. The infomercials for weight loss solutions like, diet programs, diet pills, home workouts, reality shows. Don't get me wrong, it can help, boost or change people. Sometimes it's just overwhelming.

Foods, oh the foods, that promote low calories, healthiest choice, and all that other stuff. That's even more overwhelming. Sometimes, I just stick to fresh produce, and even then you have organic to choose from. It never ends....sometimes you just got to take it or just run the other way!

In my opinion, it shouldn't necessarily be how you look, what should matter is that you're healthy and love your body. Whatever weight you're at, embrace it. And, if you're on your fitness journey, don't let the media choose your goals. If you're not happy with your body, only you can change that. Make it happen! I'm finding it challenging to tone my body, it's definitely HARD work, I know I won't have a six-pack tomorrow, eventually, maybe I will. It's what I chose for my body!!

Day 8; Worst Injury I've had

Question 8: Worst injury every had?

Aghhh, INJURIES SUCK!!!! Last summer, I was run, run, running, started P90X, maybe 233k 2/3.
And then BAM, on a late night run, about 10minutes in, the genius in me decided to hit REPLAY on a song, without paying attention, landed on the cracked asphalt and ate it GOOD! As I went down I felt my[right]  foot twist, landed on the other knee, phone flying in front of me, catching myself on both hands. I was scared sh8tless and started immediately laughing while crying a little bit. WTF, just happened?!?! Crawled to my phone, and then to the curb, texting my husband. In the conversation, describing the pain, it seemed like I might of sprained my ankle. We laughed and he told me to call someone to pick me up since the walk wasn't so close. I refused and limped for 20minutes back to MIL's house! The next day it was swollen, and I braved walking to get my daughter registered for preschool, then back to MIL's to let it relax and iced. The following day I went into see the doctor, sure enough, I SPRAINED MY ANKLE, leaving it to heal for 7-8 weeks, NO RUNNING or PIVOTING!! I though my life was over, I know, the exaggeration!! Running had became natural to me, since I was back home, dealing with the tragic loss of my dad, and not seeing him when I went to visit my mom & siblings, really hurt. So, I'd run almost nightly, to deal with the pain. About a week or 2 later, I ordered a Spin Bike [another passion I love] and got busy with that.

My current injury, Plantar Fasiitis, it's a PAIN to deal with but I'm keeping at it. It started during Week ONE of Insanity, I was landing pretty hard and was driven to keep going but it wasn't looking pretty. Doc told me to stay off when need be, ice it, take pain revilers, ease off when I feel it, use a gel foot sole, don't start Insanity for a whole..bummer!!!  I've learned to pace myself, I ran my FIRST Half-Marathon See Jane Run last month, dealing with it, although, it didn't start aching until mile 8/9. It's been almost 7 weeks and I've struggled with the ups/down. I had to lay off of it all together early on. Fortunately, it's been (shhhh), way better lately....I'm one happy runner!!!

Whatever the injury is, I've learned that patience will get me through it, don't get me wrong, it's FRUSTRATING.
