Day 30; Fitness Inspiration?

Who is your fitness inspiration?

There's a few mainstream fitness inspirations, I mentioned them on Day 10.

And, I get the daily inspiration from these 3 pretty girls. They need a healthy / active Mama, and I'm that girl. They know it's time to get busy when they see me in my workout gear. They don't always cooperate during my "runs" but I've learned to bargain with them. They keep me going, and during this deployment, it's just what I need. I love them to the moon and back.

Hello, September!!

I always love a NEW Month, it's a chance for a NEW beginning, NEW challenges.
Any day is a new day to MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

  • Another Blog-a-day Challenge
  • Plank-A-Day Challenge
  • Start of Clean Eating
  • No Fast Food (actually through the entire deployment)

  • No Sugar Challenge (this is crazy)
  • Les Mills Pump
  • Fit-Loving Ladies Bootcamp
  • Moms Run This Town Meetup Weekly Host
  • 100s (each week a challenge to do 100s; spin miles, kettlebell swings, push-ups, crunches, each month the challenge continues to increase)

Day 29; Working out ANYWHERE!

Do you workout at home or at the gym?

From my living room routines to my bedroom for a Spin to the GYM for TM Runs to the great outdoors.

 I can do it anywhere!

Like today during bootcamp, we dropped down to the ground for push-ups, got up to the picnic tables to tricep dips, and walked around the lake.

Tomorrow, I'll be grabbing my weight bar and weights from under my coach to get my lifting on with Les Mills Pump.

I can squeeze in a few miles outdoors. Or, I can walk around the corner to the gym, but it get's a little crazy with 3 super active girls (baby girl being a climber).

If, I don't get a run in, I can go upstairs to my bedroom for some Sweaty Spinning!

a n y w h e r e; make it happen, get it done!

Day 28; Proud Fitness Junkie

It's day 28 of the AUGUST HEALTHY LIVING/FITNESS BLOGGER WRITING CHALLENGE and today's topic is, Are you a cardio junkie or a strength junkie...

Hi, my name is Rosanna and I'm a FITNESS JUNKIE!!
I love it all; any which way that brings on the SWEAT & BURN.
The satisfaction that I just killed that workout and I'm feeling fabulous!!
Sure, some days it kicks my ass whether it be a RUN, SPIN, Kettle Bell/Hand weights/Weight Bar/Body Weight/HIIT Routine,....anything, everything. I want it all!

It's the glory of knowing I got my ass up/off and got it done; total fitness junkie mentality!
The Running that makes my legs burn with each stride or my booty jiggle.
The Spinning that makes my legs feel strong as hell, during spin-ups/climbs.
The arms that lift heavy during rep effect, and stay strong during KB swings.
The triceps that burn during dips.
The core that engages strong, even beyond the baby fat, to burn with reps.
The body that hold baby girls, two at time, some days, it's what gets it done!

Day 27; When I retire?

How will you stay busy when you retire?

Fitness doesn't have an age limit.

I'll remain as active as my body allows. I have 3 girls, and I'll be very much involved in keeping them active no matter where we go, coaching whatever sport I can support in.

I'll be a RUNNER as long as my body allows. It's where I find my peace, especially during these days as a military spouse, with 3 girls in town while husband is not home.

I'll be that woman to still TEACHING fitness classes. Taking clients as a personal trainer,   and helping others on their fitness journey.

I'll be the woman, riding the BIKE/CYCLING, enjoying the weather in the mornings, maybe riding alongside husband.

I'll be the woman, who picks up GOLF, an activity my husband enjoys and I'm looking forward to learning.

I'll be that woman, still moving, keeping busy, enjoying life, my family, being active!!

[This made me giggle]

Squats, Burpees, Oh My!

Talk about FI-YAH!!!

My bottom half is feeling SORE/BURNED/FABULOUS!!!

This month I started the August Gold Medal Ass Challenge, over at the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans. I got de-railed after my bum knee. Whomp! Whomp!!

I decided to jump back on it today with days 8-15; Total of 285 Squats, 95 Burpees and Wall-Sits. I might do MORE later...maybe...I got to moving around and felt a little sting in my knee.

Agh!!
Other than this little challenge, it's "REST" Day, NO RUNNING. I actually had my alarm set but could NOT get out of bed, I  guess my body needed the extra rest. Even though, I dozed off for nearly 3 hours yesterday afternoon when husband got off work, he just left me sleep. Kind of sweet. Kind of worrisome. Not sure why the exhaustion hit.
I have a LONG RUN planned for tomorrow! And, then it's kind of "maybe" from there, since it's our last weekend with him, home. I REALLY don't want to go back to Treadmill Runs, but trying to get an outdoor run with 3 girls in tow is crazy challenging. We just might have to hit the track, and log in miles that way. Once, school starts it'll be a little "less" crazy!!
Ahhhh, there's some Happy Running someway!!

Day 24; What's in your gym bag

What's in your gym bag?

Hmm...I don't really carry a gym bag. I haven't been in a while, when I do go it's literally 5 seconds down the street or a walk around the corner. And, I usually carry my bag with baby birls things like, diapers, wipes, sippy cup.

When I do go to gym, I take my water bottle in purple. Super Awesome, I can keep my Military ID and credit card in there. I sit in on the treadmill.
Other than the water bottle, I'll have my headphones for music, sometimes a towel but I often forget and my chapstik. SIMPLE, huh? I do most of my workout at home!!

I'll start carrying a "gym" bag when BOOTCAMP begins; which will have my Routine, and print-outs, snacks like Clif Bars or Protein Bar and snacks for the kids, Resistant Bands, Yoga Mat, Towel and Speaker Docking Station for music (Yeah, I'm Awesome like that).
I'm EXCITED, it starts NEXT WEEK!!!!!

Day 23; The best thing to happen to you this week

The best thing to happen to you this week; Spending time with my Amazing Family!!

"Being a family means you are apart of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life. No matter what."

Things have been emotional around here; we're about to say "see ya later" to our man.
We went to Seattle 2 days in a row for EARLY Birthday Celebration for Leanna, she'll be 6 years old on Sunday. We are over the moon in love with her and just can't believe it. She's also been talking about how excited she is to start FIRST GRADE!! I love them SO much!!

Rough Run

Whewwww!!!

So, this "Run" started last night, mentally!
I was in bed reading a parenting book on my kindle, when the topic "discipline" started between husband and I. It went from how it's explained with teaching preschoolers to health discipline. And, how waking up at 4:45 AM was going to be rough since we were still up at 11PM. Yeahhhh, I wanted to prove to husband that I wanted this EARLY Run because I didn't want it to happen later when he got off work, I wanted to spend every last second we had together. (He is days away from leaving on deployment).

IT WAS ROUGH!!! I literally jumped out of bed, got dressed, and RAN. My legs were SO heavy, it's that time of the month (TMI), but it totally sucks!! I've NEVER had been one who dealt with the menstrual symptoms and yet here I am; cramps, bloating, it makes me so unhappy. And, that's another reason I wanted to get out there to RUN!!
It was still dark, the sunrise was at 6:14AM, but I had to be back home by 5:45, so I used my head light to guide in "dark" areas and for safety. Al least, it was cool.

Got 3 Miles in, also miles for The Bug Run Virtual Half-Marathon, only 6.62 to go!!
I'm also 38.96/42Miles in August; Another August Challenge I'm participating in!!

Gone Runnin' Week 2

It was another FABULOUS WEEK of RUNNING!!

Although, I was mending a pain too, during last Sunday's RUN, my knee got a beating going down a [steep] hill. So, I've taken a few rest days this week, today being another. It's not fun but I listen to my body, I don't stress it. For Today's "REST DAY"; Foam Rolling and Yoga, I need it, I slept wrong and got a sore body. Here's how this week of RUNNING went;

Tuesday's Run; was a "test" run, to feel out the knee. It was aching at the beginning, so I paced myself, even taking a few walking intervals. Got 2 [EARLY] Miles in and I was Happy despite the [bum] knee. Came back home, stretched, foam rolled.

Wednesday's Run; I was anxious to get back out there, so I did!! It was later than usual RUN and it was pretty hot. 80s*, yeah, that's hot here in Washington. My body has adjusted to the weather here, it was more Extreme at our last duty station and even Texas. I explored a New Route, the road that husband and other sailors run during their PRT. It was perfect, flat, no cars to distract me, then I saw a back entrance to the trails, I often run. I was beyond excited. Sure, the knee was a little funny, so again, I'd ease off it with a walking interval or slowed my pace down. Got 3 Miles in!!

Thursday's RUN; FIRST Meetup with the Fabulous Mother Runners of our Local Moms Run This Town Chapter. I finally met the leader, we've chatted quite often since I joined, so it was nice to finally meet in person. Also, 2 other Mother Runners, one is is training for a Full Marathon, October, we got lots of advice from her. She also shared running routes onn/off base. I was thrilled to meet others with that share the same passion in running. And, we're excited to keep the group active. We met in a little town, which I love, and I only snapped this photo, the sun was setting during out run along the waterfront. I can;t get enough of outdoor runs.

Saturday's RUN; This RUN didn't happen as I had originally planned. I was giving myself a MAJOR challenge and running a Virutal Half-Marathon EARLY but Baby Girl had different plans, she woke up puking, right before my alarm even went off. Our poor girl, she puked a few times and I wasn't going to leave her side, husband was there too. After the unpleasant 4:30ish wake-up, we all crashed about 6:30. And, I didn't get back up until 8. We got some morning cleaning done, he left to take a friend to the ferry and baby girl to get a check-up at hospital. I stayed behind waiting for the cable guy, our internet had been acting up. After all that got done, baby girl was FINE, we lounged. Until, I said, "I still want to sneak in a quick RUN", after he mentioned getting ready to go to Best Buy to pick up a movie(s). He said, "GO, Run, Rosanna!" I jumped up in excitement, I can RUN to Best Buy, I can meet y'all! He said he'd give me a headstart. Hahhaha. That's love y'all. I got the girls dressed and ready. I got myself dressed quickly. I speed out the door. Took the route out the base gate, and ran, ran, ran.....I made it there first, I wasn't too speedy, I did take a few walking intervals, hit some trails and was a HOT MESS. Sweat was still dripping down when I walked inside Best Buy to splash water on my face and I we walked around. We came home and I immediately started on dinner, yep, that's when you know you're a RUNNER. Keep is moving, even while smelly. Hah!! So, these miles are also towards a Virtual Half-Marathon I'm participating in, The Bug Run. Got 3 Miles in.

Day 21; Blog Start

Why did you start writing a blog?
Since, I started my fitness journey, I'd talk about it one way or another, with friends, via social networks, always sharing. It INSPIRED people, it showed that there was NO EASY way of making it happen. It took HARD WORK; COMMITMENT; DISCIPLINE; TIME.....
So, I figure, I'd start a blog just for "all things fitness-related", more in-depth. SO, I started late last year and would update here and there. And, keep my other blog to life itself, to my "life" happenings. I would often get questions on how I started, what's my latest routine, this-that- and the other. And, now I can share it through a post or have them refer to it with a shared link. It's also a way to keep myself accountable, with the upcoming deployment. People often praise me for getting it done with 3 kids, in tow and a husband away. Believe me, It's not always easy, my girls don't always want to cooperate with my routine, things change. When he is away, I don't get many outdoor [solo] runs, my race schedule is affected, after all, who is going to watch my 3 girls. I have Fabulous Friends, who have and offer. And, in turn, I'd do the same for them. I'll share my challenges as a wife of a deployed Sailor, and a Busy Mama to 3 girls; if I can make it happen, anyone else can, given any situation. A support to other friends, local support with fitness-related meetups (Bootcamps & Meetup Runs).
Let's make it happen!!
